Release Your Inner Warrior With Functional Training
What Is Functional Training?
Functional training, also called unconventional training, doesn’t fall victim to the latest exercise and workout fads. It offers varying routines that provide strength, endurance and power with a realistic workout routine that can be modified to fit everyone.
Types of Equipment
As indicated by its name, unconventional training uses untraditional, ‘old school’ equipment such as:
- Kettleballs
- Club bells
- Tires
- Battle ropes
- Sand bags
- Sledgehammers
- Suspension training
This ‘caveman-esque’ equipment offers an efficient cardio AND conditioning workout while the ballistic motions integrate various muscle groups.
Who Can Participate?
Functional training is used for training professional athletes, mixed martial arts fighters, the military and law enforcement personnel. Some methods have been around for thousands of years while others are 21st century.
You don’t have to be a Navy Seal, linebacker or member of the SWAT Team to reap the benefits of functional training.
The Rewards of Functional Training:
The physical gains of functional training are numerous and whoever you are, whatever your fitness level, you can gain:
- Improved strength and power
- Increased endurance and stamina
- Builds muscle flexibility and joint mobility
- Provides conditioning and cardio
- Burns calories and fat
Simplicity is key and the workout is never the same, so you will never get bored and every muscle group will participate. By mixing up the exercises and focusing on high intensity training, you’ll get an all-over body in a shorter time with greater results.
